This photograph of Muslim women casting their vote with black ink on their finger was taken in Howrah, West Bengal, India. The Election Commission of India conducts special campaigns to encourage minority voters to exercise their democratic right to vote.

The Allard Prize Photography Competition jury selected this photo as it represents transparent and democratic elections, a powerful tool in the fight against corruption.
