POSTER IN GRAVEYARD

ARGENTINA
Ted Nodwell

Ted Nodwell lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. After graduating from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology photography program, he first undertook a photojournalism project documenting health and social development programs, before becoming a professional commercial and advertising photographer. Ted has won numerous photographic awards and his images have been curated for exhibitions in Vancouver, Whistler and China.

This photograph focuses on a poster proclaiming “31 years of denial and neglect” in Buenos Aires, in support of veterans of the Guerra del Atlántico Sur (Falklands War). In the aftermath of the war, there have been allegations of inhuman treatment of conscripted soldiers by their officers and suicide has reportedly claimed as many as 450 Argentinian veterans.

The Allard Prize Photography Competition jury selected this photo as it reflects the efforts of concerned citizens to raise awareness and to obtain recognition and justice.
